Discount Labels

Posted by on Monday, 26 July, 2010

Due to the popularity of the electronic world, finding discounted labels is as easy as typing the words in a search engine and clicking on the different results to compare and contrast the best prices; however, that is only the beginning. Once the research has begun, it will be clear that there are many options to consider. Some of those options include creating a budget, deciding on what type of labels are needed, how many labels are needed, what colors, shapes, and designs can be afforded, and what size is desired. Also, most label makers require the customer to call or email them to get a quote before even beginning to process the order, so it is a good idea to start the procedure of getting the labels a little early in the game.

A sample order was placed to a discounted label company in order to get the most efficient information possible. The research began with calling the number provided for discountlabels.com, and this company asked some general questions and then referred the caller to their local sister company in the customers area, which was Acclaim ID Products. The first thing the representative wanted to know is how many labels will be needed and what size they needed to be. The general order minimum for most companies that carry discount labels is 50 labels; however, this company would allow the customer to purchase as little as five and as much as one hundred million. As far as size goes, the possibilities were endless! The representative enthusiastically stated that their company was a custom house, so whatever the customer came up with in terms of size, they would be able do for them.

For the article, 500, 4-inch sticky labels were chosen. She also inquired about what the labels would be used for, and for this particular order, it was said to be used to place on t-shirts to wear during a charity walk. Next, the spokesperson wanted to know what shape was desired. The customer had the option to choose from die cut, circles, ovals, squares, and special shapes. The special shapes opened up a whole new world consisting of arrows, stars, hearts, anniversary, C.D. rolls, hangers, inverted corners, octagons, and ribbons to name a few. For this project, a circle shape was chosen.

Then the agent went on to inquire about the colors that would be used for the discount labels in this project, and the answer was yellow and blue. She asked if there was a special type of blue that needed to be used, and the caller said a royal blue would be the best fit. The consumer was given the choice of picking a blue that the company offered that was close to royal blue, or they could have it custom made to get the exact match for an additional charge. For this order, the customer just went with the blue that was already available. They went through the same process for the yellow and the customer decided on the color that was available for that color as well. Then the agent queried about the background color. Those options were limitless as well, but the consumer just chose to go with a white background.

The next inquiry the representative made was about bleeding. A label with no bleed is one that allows the colors to run off the side and a label that does bleed usually has some sort of border that separates the edges from the inside. After a bleeder was chosen for the quote, the consumer was informed that they would be responsible for designing their own label because that was a service that they did not offer.

With this information, the customer knew at this point, they would have to design the label themselves or find someone who could design it for them. They would have to use one of the following programs in order for the label company to be able to open up and use it because it has to be compatible with the software that they had on hand. Those programs include, Adobe Illustrator, Indesign, Freehand, Quark, Photo Shop, or Corel Draw. The representative stressed that Microsoft Office was not among the choices available.

After clarifying all of this information, the discount label company informed the customer that they could put them in their system so that it would be easy to place the same order again at a later time. After all of this information was gathered, a price and an order number was finally given. For 500, 4-inch sticky labels with a white background, two colors in a circular shape with no bleed; it would be $54.49 per thousand. There is an additional up charge of thirty dollars for the labor ($15 a color), and this brings the total for this order without taxes to $57.25. Although the prices of possibly having someone design the labels are not included, this turned out to be a pretty good deal. With a price like that, it feels like there is no need to have the labels discounted any further; however, everyone loves getting a lower price for any item.

Introduction to Mannequin Heads

Posted by on Wednesday, 30 June, 2010

Most stores that sell clothing articles have mannequins to display their products. A mannequin head can be made from many different materials such as wax, plastic, wood, and fiberglass. Ones look like women, men, or children. Some of them are even created to resemble movie stars or other famous celebrities.

Mannequins were first invented over a century ago. While they are mainly used to advertise clothing, they can be used for other purposes as well. Some of them are used in car crash tests or CPR training courses. These kinds of mannequins allow people to learn about traumatic effects on the human body without having to put anyone in danger. Test dummies are usually molded from wax or ballistic gel to simulate human muscle and tissue.

Fashion mannequins are by far the most popular type and they are used to market all kinds of clothing articles. Full size plastic models are the same size as a person and have a head, hands, feet, arms, and legs. Many of the joints are flexible so they can be posed in various positions to make them look more life-like. They can be used to model shirts, pants, dresses, or shoes. Some of them only consist of a torso, which can be used to display blouses and shirts because they take up much less space than a full sized one.

A mannequin head is a life-sized head that has all the features of the human face. These ones can be used for several kinds of situations. Often they are used to model makeup, wigs, or hats. Some people use head mannequins to practice cutting hair at a beauty school. The facial features on this type of mannequin can be molded to represent various face shapes and races. However, a standard facial feature set is prevalent in most display mannequins. Most heads are made from plastic or vinyl, although a glass mannequin head can also be used in some instances. A homemade or vintage mannequin head can also be made from wood.

Uses for Mannequins

Stores that sell hats often use mannequins for their products. It is much simpler and more efficient to use a small head model instead of a life-sized model to display a hat. Many stores set up displays with multiple units on a table or other surface. Almost any kind of mannequin can be used to display hats because they do not have to have certain features or hair colors. Nevertheless, the face should still be as life-like as possible to give shoppers a good idea of how the hat would look on a person.

Mannequin heads are also good for showing wigs. These heads should come with a variety of sizes and facial features so people can see how different wigs look on various people. Since each person has a unique face, you should purchase heads that are different so customers can see how different hairstyles and colors can accent the individual’s face. The head should also be bald because it needs have room to support a wig.

Mannequins with real human hair can be used in hair salon schools as a training tool. Students are able to experience what it is like to trim a real person’s hair by practicing on a realistic wig. In some ways, these mannequins are very similar to those displaying wigs because the hair is a wig that can be replaced once it is cut. However, hair-cutting models usually do not have any facial features because their focus is on the hair.

Cosmetology mannequin heads are used to advertise makeup products. A cosmetology mannequin head usually has very defined facial features that give customers as life-like appearance as possible. Some of them are even painted and given textures to further resemble a real person’s face.

Where to Buy Mannequins

There are many companies that mass produce mannequins, so if you only need basic features then you can likely purchase one at a mannequin store. These companies make hundreds of identical units that can be used for most purposes. Usually a designer creates a standard set of facial features and body shapes that can be molded for production on a large scale. Mass produced models are quite cheap and can come in a variety of shapes and styles.

If you need a unique mannequin, then you will need to find a business that sells custom products. Some manufacturers will allow you to design the mannequin heads yourself so you can get a product that especially suits you. Unique mannequins are always more expensive than mass produced ones, but they are also better quality and have a one-of-a-kind appearance. One of the best ways to find a custom mannequin service is by finding a website that will ship products to your area.

Printing Thermal Transfer Labels

Posted by on Saturday, 26 June, 2010

Thermal transfer label printing is a very sophisticated technology that uses heat to melt a wax or wax-resin ink, directly onto a paper or plastic label. These labels are most frequently used for bar coding labels for shipping, pricing, identification and patient wristbands in hospitals. This high quality process produces a superior line that is easily read by scanners with little room for error.

Most thermal transfer labels come in standardized sizes of 4”, 6” and 8” wide. The printers use a fix-width thermal print head and specifically matched film, which is driven through the printer. The entire surface of the paper or plastic is covered by the film, which makes it ideal for labels but not well suited for larger applications. Matching the correct ribbon and label combination is vital to the performance of the thermal transfer printer. For this reason, purchasing products that have been produced by name brand companies with reliable reputations is vital. When label and ribbon combinations are perfectly matched, this process produces a label that can last for extremely long periods of time without fading or smudging. A miss-matched label and ribbon combination can result in illegible printing or low-resolution barcodes. Barcodes must follow strict rules and maintain a long shelf life. Using the right combination of wax, resin and media, the thermal printer can produce a label that will last indefinitely. The right combinations can also create extremely high-resolution lines for small labels that can be used to identify micro circuitry. The need for finely printed and durable labels increases, almost daily.

Plastic labels can also be coated to withstand contact with chemicals or harsh temperatures and ultraviolet exposure. Polyester and polypropylene labels must also be compatible with adhesives that withstand chemicals or water and still cling to oily or uneven surfaces. These kinds of labels are most often used to identify hazardous materials or other materials that are stored outdoors.

While this type of labeling system is more difficult to use than direct thermal printing, which uses no ink or resin, and is much more lightweight and portable, the thermal heat transfer lasts longer and withstands more environmental pressures, making it much more desirable in the long run.

Direct thermal printing, which uses heat and a chemically treated media to print directly onto the fabric or product, is much easier to use and the label is permanent. Unfortunately, the printing tends to fade with time and exposure and can be defaced by scratching or rubbing; making it less than ideal for long-term use. This method is definitely preferable for short tern applications such as event tickets, visitor identification badges and bar codes for quickly selling items or large volumes of rapidly moving
Thermal transfer label printing products. Direct heat transfer is also ideal for use in clothing: there are no sewn labels to cause discomfort or distort the fall of the material. These labels stay attached, are not cut or torn off and are appreciated by consumer while maintaining the maker’s identity.

Thermal ribbons can be purchased in different combination of wax and resin, depending on the material the labels will be used on and the life expectancy of the product. One consideration of the type of ribbon used is the need to produce a fine line verses the need for durability. A combination of wax and resin printed on a paper label will create a high-resolution image that can be reduced or enlarged when reproduced without losing clarity, but must be protected from moisture and light. Pure resins dissolve into the label material, such as plastic or polypropylene, and will last indefinitely. These labels are often used in the automotive and electronic industries. New technologies are also working to develop thermal printers with even higher resolution.

When deciding which printers and labels are right for your company’s needs, Zebra thermal transfer labels are unsurpassed in quality and design. Zebra has continued to stay in the forefront of this highly competitive market by continually improving and upgrading products. This company uses only the finest materials and sophisticated technology to ensure labels that can withstand high print speeds and temperatures without compromising clarity. These paper and plastic labels come with a variety of characteristics for labeling everything from paper to steel while also providing the correct coatings and adhesives for completing the job. Their Internet site provides easy to understand, personalized information on label types and materials and their inventory is always up to date.

Zebra can also design custom-order labels and tags, and recommend the appropriate glues and adhesives for either permanent or temporary applications. Logos and colors can be faithfully reproduced to provide a high quality, professional product and turnover time is short. The people there are dedicated to seeing that each order, whether standard or customized, is met with satisfaction. Zebra continues to set the bar in label production.

Magnetic Notice Board: Different Types and Uses

Posted by on Thursday, 24 June, 2010

A magnetic notice board can serve many purposes to many businesses and organizations. This device can be used in offices, conference rooms, and even in homes. It can help people organize their day-to-day activities and keep their notes and writings safe from all forms of imminent destruction. With this board, wastage and clutter of paper are relatively minimized.

Some of the many ways by which a magnet notice board can be used include the following:

• Posting company goals and achievements – Companies can use the boards as a space where they could post the goals they have set as a corporation or business. Posting their goals may serve as a constant reminder for all employees so they will not deviate from the primary business goals of the company. In addition, it may help keep things on track and inspire people to go forward into the direction set by company objectives. These boards may also be used to notify employees about the achievements made by the company on a particular period.

• Leaving Personal Notes and Messages – Sometimes, people may need to leave personal notes to their colleagues or coworkers. Instead of writing the note on a piece of paper and leaving the note on the coworker’s desk or workspace where it has higher chances of getting lost among all other papers, individuals can write their messages on the notice boards. This can ensure that the message will really be read by the person whom the message is intended for.

• Posting Memos and Reminders – Magnetic notice boards are a great tool for circulating memos and reminders to all personnel in the office. These boards provide employees and office personnel easy access to important information such as deadlines for projects, meetings, current job openings, company activities, and special occasions. The good thing about these boards is that the information written on them can be erased and changed anytime when needed. Writings on these boards can be easily erased with dry erase markers. The writings may even be easily erased with just a piece of cloth.

In homes, magnet notice boards can be used to leave reminders and important messages to other family members. Instead of using paper, parents can now write their reminders to their children and house helpers. Likewise, children may write their requests for dinner or other things on the board. In short, these boards can significantly open the communication lines between people.

With the many ways by which notice boards can be used, it can be expected that these tools come in a wide variety of choices. Individuals, companies, and organizations are presented with boards that may come in wide variety of designs, mounting options, sizes, shapes, and even customization options. They may choose from the wide array of options with their different needs taken first into considerations.

Here are some types of magnet boards available for the choosing of individuals, businesses, and corporations:

• Plain White Magnet Boards – Widely used by many businesses because of their flexibility, these boards may be bought with or without visible lines. They can also be customized according to the needs of individuals, businesses, offices, or organizations.

• Lined Boards – These may be lined to provide easy writing in a straight line.

• Grid Boards

• Paneled Boards – Also popular among many businesses, these writing boards are available in a wide array of paneling selections. People can customize paneled magnetic notice devices according to their writing needs.

• Encased Notice Boards – Some individuals or businesses may require additional protection for the writings they inscribed on the magnetic notice writing board. In such cases, they may use those that are created with casing. Casing can be made of glass, wood, or other materials.

• Sliding Boards – May be made of more than one white board lined after the other. Such types are usually used in classrooms, meeting rooms, presentation rooms, training rooms, and other areas where information needs to be displayed repeatedly. A sliding board makes it easier for people to present information without having to write the same text repeatedly.

• Combination Type – This kind of notice board is made of the different types of notice boards available. This means that one unit of this board may already contain a portion of a white board, cork board, chalkboard, and many more. Because this is a combination, this board may be decked with different colors and designs.

Because of the many choices available when it comes to the magnetic notice board, people, businesses, or organizations may first need to consider their various needs before purchasing any of the different types of notice magnet boards. Making a careful choice will help them avoid buying boards that are not suited to their needs. They may ask manufacturers to have their boards customized if needed.

Getting Organized With Your Own Cork Board Wall Covering

Posted by on Saturday, 19 June, 2010

In this article I am going to share with you one of the biggest lifesavers ever when it comes to getting organized. If you have a home office, you are going to do two things after reading this article. The first thing is you are going to attempt to kick yourself. Once you are wore out from doing that you are going to take the advice that I am about to share with you and organize your office today.

My home office use to look like a hurricane ran through it then came back for seconds. That is until I stumbled upon a wall cork board on my way in the grocery store. I have been in and out of this store hundreds of times, and for some reason this day I noticed all the little ads hanging up on this cork board on my way in. I definitely needed one of those for the home office. At the time, I had sticky notes all over the place, the walls, the filing cabinet, even the desk lamp.

I went to my local office supply store and I received nothing but disappointment. The only type of boards that they had been small ones, I could easily fill that one with the notes that were stuck to my filing cabinet. I turned to the Internet and struck gold; I had found cork sheets in every size imaginable. I could even cork board the side of my house if I wanted to, although it would not be cost effective – but I think you get the point.

As I began to do my research, I realized that cork boards for walls were growing in popularity. Even better yet they were environmentally friendly, which really struck a cord with me since I have been trying to go green. I dug even deeper and discovered that corkboards came from the bark of cork trees from Portugal and nearby countries. At first glance, that sounded like a negative thing until I read further and discovered that no trees were destroyed during the process.

When trying to install the cork on the wall, most people will attempt to glue the board directly to the wall; this is a huge mistake. Eventually you will want to remove the cork sheets, because either you want to move and take it with you or maybe you decide to redecorate. Whatever the reason the day may come and if it does, and you have glued the board on wall it is virtually impossible to remove it without destroying your wall.

The company that I purchased the cork from recommended that I use pins or thumbtacks. This would make holes in the wall, which would also defeat the goal of not destroying your wall. The best option that I have found thus far is to use a fiberboard backing board for the wall corkboards. In an effort of keeping it all green, this was the best solution. This method also had other advantages such as it would aid with noise protection as well as heat insulation, which is a win-win all the way around.

Either I have experimented with different methods and most caused the cork sheets to destroy the wall or the cork would fall off the wall after a while. After a little trial and error, I have found that contact cement works fine and you can glue it directly to the fiberboard. It is recommended that you coat the back of your board as well as the fiberboard. By doing so you will ensure that, your board is firm and secure. Since the cork sheets are so porous it is recommended that you give is a second coating just to be safe.

When installing the board you should use a roller to firmly press the board to the fiberboard. For best results, you will want to roll from the center outward to the edges to avoid bubbles. You will want to place the fiberboard on the wall in sections. It is challenging to get the correct fit if you attempt to attach the fiberboard to the original wall, and then attempt to place the cork board covering on top. Things will go a lot smoother if you use an electronic stud finder to locate the wall studs. Attach the covering to the studs to minimize the damage to the original wall.

My office is looking a lot better now days, and it is all thanks to the corkboard wall covering. There is however a downside to having the board in my office. The kids often come in and hang everything imaginable on my wall, drawings, I love you daddy, and you name it. My wife has even claimed a section for her honey-do-list. I guess that is not a downside at all.

You are going to be amazed at how fast and easy it is to install your very own cork board wall covering. It is extremely cost effective, and you are doing your part to save the environment. What more can you ask for?

Everything about Cork Board Sheets

Posted by on Saturday, 12 June, 2010

Cork is a material that typically comes from the bark of a Cork tree, the majority of which are grown and produced in Portugal (over half of the world’s supply). Cork (and its industry) is rather eco-friendly, and the product is considered sustainable and recyclable, although recently there has been a decline in cork trees around the world. What makes cork unique is its elasticity, combined with an almost impermeability to liquids. This makes it a perfect material for “corks,” or bottle stoppers for wine bottles. In fact, about sixty-percent of all cork products are wine corks; high quality stoppers are rather expensive, so good corks are usually the mark of a good brand. Other common cork products include fishing products such as buoys and rod handles, because of cork’s amazingly low density and floating properties. Woodwinds also typically use cork to bond together the different segments while keeping the instrument airtight.

One final cork product is the cork board sheet. Just as it sounds, the cork board sheets are made out of cork, and are long and easily bendable. It is a construction material that comes in sheets. It is made by compressing and then baking granules of cork, much like any other cork product, except for its unique shape. The main purpose of the board is to serve as an insulator. It is, in fact, one of the older if not the oldest used insulator in the commercial world. It is still heavily used in the home building market, but lately prices have soared as the number of cork trees diminished.

Cork has good thermal retention and is relatively difficult to compress and to burn. It holds up well to other forms of insulation, and as with all materials the thicker the board the better the insulation. The largest limitation cork faces as an insulator, is an ability to absorb water, with relatively high average permeability rates.

However, boards can also be used as wall exteriors as well as interiors. Exterior examples of cork are bulletin boards and wall coverings. Cork makes great wall hangings because its malleability makes it easy to tack things to it, making it a very effective bulletin board, and it is quick to recover from pushpin use. Cork bulletin boards are often used in trade shows, being used to display information or services. They can also be sold at trade shows. As a regular wall covering not intended for pushpins, cork could be stained any color, painted, or even silk-screened for aesthetic purposes. It is a great wall covering for rooms where music is played because it both breaks down acoustics and keeps noise inside, and effectively cuts down on vibrations.

Hanging your own cork is a relatively easy process. The first step is to acquire the cork, which can be bought at any number of home improvement supply stores. If getting to a store proves difficult, it can also be ordered online, for example at homedepot.com or at a specialist store such as dodgecork.com. The cork will typically arrive in a roll. Determine the wall position before doing anything else (this will be easier if you want the entire wall to be covered). Always measure with a chalk line so that any mistakes can be easily erased. Then, make sure you locate all the studs in you wall; finally, attach ledgers or wood strips to serve as a temporary support system for the cork panels when they are first hung.

Prepare the sheet by trimming it down to workable sizes, cutting them into panels with a construction razor. Apply some untempered base to the cork board sheets to serve as a back (this will make removal of the sheets easier, if you ever chose to get rid of it down the line). Get a paint roller, and roll it in a glue that has been diluted with water by about one-third. Roll this onto the back of the panel (a second coating is recommended because the material is so porous and will most likely soak up some of the glue). Finally, you are ready to start lining up the board with the previously made measurements. Hang strings with weights along the lines you have drawn to serve as markers after the board is covering the lines. Lift the panel into place; it is essential that you have a helper to keep checking and making sure the board hangs straight. Then start applying pressure along the panel to press the glue into the wall, holding it for a moment or two. Afterwards, you should be able to let the cork sit on the runners you put up for support. Drill a few nails into the wall to help keep the cork up.

At this point, all that is left to do is wait for the glue to dry! Afterwards you can remove the wooden runners and decorate your cork board as much or as little as you would like, and then sit back and enjoy your newly insulated and sound proofed room!

Plastic Holders – Why Use Them for Your Trade Show Booth

Posted by on Tuesday, 1 June, 2010

There are many different kinds of plastic holders and they serve different purposes. However, these handy items can often get overlooked by those setting up trade show booths as these people attend to display banners, pop up banners, TV displays, and pressing questions, such as how much to offer the company’s product for and whether or not there should be free giveaway items at the booth. However, it is important to remember that seemingly little things are actually very important to a booth having the right look and being attractive to potential customers.

Below are listed a few different kinds of plastic holders and a bit about each one:

Plastic Card Holders:

These handy little things give you a place to put your name cards where people can easily take them. It is a lot more professional than fumbling through your pockets to try to find a name card to give a potential customer. Plastic card holders come in every color known to man although the clear ones are, generally speaking, the nicest looking when it comes to trade show booths. They are not expensive and they give people walking by a chance to pick up your business card. They are also small, and will not take up a lot of room at your display table.

Plastic Brochure Holders:

These items are almost a must. Every booth should have a brochure stand outside so that people can pick up a brochure from the company. It is a known fact that a trade show booth generates more sales after it has finished than it does right when the booth is open. Many, many people who go by your booth are likely to buy your product after the fact even if they do not seem interested in it right now.

So many booths make the mistake of stacking up brochures on the table itself, along with the products they are offering. This is messy and unprofessional and does not encourage people to take a brochure. While you can stand there and hand one out to whoever you happen to see walking by, it does cost so ridiculously little to buy a good quality brochure holder that you should just save yourself the trouble and buy one. There are metal, wooden and plastic ones; go with the kind that will match the look of the booth in general. You can get table top ones or floor standing ones; the latter are a good choice because then you will have more room on the table for your products. However, you may find that having a floor standing one is not practical, especially if you have a couple banner stands already on the floor, so see what will best meet your needs and be the most practical.

Plastic Badge Holders:

You have most likely seen these before. Every supermarket worker wears one – a plastic tag that states the person’s name and what they do. If you are getting ones for a trade show, then you can get something that is nice looking for a very cheap price. You do not need the kind that have the person’s photo next to the name and they do not have to be very thick – simply a clear plastic holder with a name tag inside will do the trick. They will help your sales representatives staffing the booth to look more professional. Since they cost so very little, it is worth the effort to get them and have the people operating the both use them. Some people will have a sticky label put on their shirt but these are about as tacky looking as you can get. They tear and wrinkle over the course of the day and they are unprofessional, so do not use them.

Plastic Sign Holders:

Plastic sign holders are a good alternative to mini banner stands. They are cheap and yet professional looking. They are clear and the way they work is that you put a paper sign inside and then put them up on a table. They can be easily reused at many different trade shows, as the signs are easy to take out and put in. Getting a good quality one costs well under $100 and because they are so versatile, they make a good investment.

As you can see, all the items mentioned above are not expensive and do not add a large strain to any budget but they can be a definite enhancement to any trade show booth or exhibition. It helps to plan ahead as much as possible so that you have the time to get all these little items that will make such a difference. When it comes to trade show booths, remember that you get out of them what you put into them. Put in the best of your time and planning and you will reap good results.

Multi Use Attractive and Attention Getting Foil Labels

Posted by on Monday, 31 May, 2010

A foil label is an extremely useful little item. There are many different uses for these items, and they are very handy to have on hand. The great thing about this inexpensive little item is that it can be used for promotional purposes at trade fairs, to cover up a mistaken printing, or even to add prices or bar codes to items. Labels are great when you have to change some details on something you have already printed, whether it is modifying the price or adding additional details to the product description. Rather than having to re-print your brochures or your item packaging before the trade show, you can simply design and place a sticker over the older information. Foil labels come in standard sizes, but they can also be made to custom specifications.

Why Choose Foil Labels?

These types of labels are definitely very eye-catching, and they stand out much more than regular printed labels. This is why they are great to use for promotional purposes at trade fairs and on other occasions. If you want to draw attention to something, placing a label in a prominent place on the item itself or on the display will certainly help people to focus in on it. Either gold or silver foil labels look very classy and chic and they are usually quite a bit cheaper than the metallic foil labels.

There are many different types of labels printed on foil including gold, silver, metallic and you can even have embossed foil labels if you want something on the label itself to stand out more. The regular gold and silver labels are the cheapest and in most cases, they are fine to use. If you want to make more of an impression, then you should use the slightly more expensive metallic or the even more expensive embossed ones.

Some Standard Uses for Custom Labels

Aside from the obvious uses, such as labeling items, custom labels are also perfect to have made for trade fairs. Oftentimes, trade fairs are held months or even years apart. This can mean that some of your promotional material can become outdated fairly quickly. It is a shame to have to reprint all of your promotional material, merely because one or two prices have changed, or something is no longer available. One solution that many people opt for is simply printing the prices on labels and then placing the labels over the top of the price. Of course, it is usually best to match the type of paper when the labels will be placed inside some promotional material, thus foil is not usually the best choice.

Gold foil labels are very attractive to place on items to highlight something that may not be immediately obvious. As with reprinting promotional material, it can also be very expensive to reprint packaging material and then have items repackaged. For example, if you produce a book with a CD included on the inside, but you realize after trying to market the item that this is not immediately noticeable to people, rather than reprinting the book covers or the book packaging you can simply attached a label to the front cover or packaging that says something like, “CD Included Inside”.

It is also a good practice to have your address printed on foil address labels, as they stand out much more than having your address printed on the item or brochure itself or on a regular label. Again, should your address change or even just your phone number, it is very easy to put gold foil address labels with your new address on them directly over your old address.

Printing Your Own

It is possible to find laser foil labels that can be printed directly onto. These are great to have on hand when you only need to print a few labels or when you need to print labels with differing information on them. One important detail to note, however, is that these labels are usually only suitable for printing in laser printers. While you can find metallic labels that say they are suitable for ink-jet printing, sometimes these do not work nearly as well. If you want to use ink-jet labels you must print on the highest quality settings and be prepared to wait for some time for the ink to dry properly on the labels. Do not lay them down on top of one another or use them until you are sure they are totally dry and will not smudge.

Usually labels that can be laser printed on are also suitable to use in a regular black and white photocopy machine. They may not work as well, however, on a color photocopy machine.

Presentation Boards for Trade Shows

If you are trying to promote a product or service, looking for a way to give a business presentation, or simply want a way to organize some of your materials around the house, presentation boards are an intricate and effective means of organizing information in a clear and relevant light. Presentation boards are available at nearly any office supply store, such as Office Depot, and can cost as little as fifty dollars. Although each presentation board can function for nearly any topic, there are specialized formats and designs depending on your preferred subject; a presentation board can be found for any subject in any color or design you may need.

Display presentation boards stand around six feet tall and give approximately four to eight square feet of writing room. Some can be written upon with markers or chalk, others hold documents, and still others hold a large sheaf of paper that can be torn off for new sheets or storage. Some boards must be able to collapse for traveling shows or project updates, and many models can fit into a briefcase or suitcase for mobility. Others have simple mobility from one room to another with wheels or swerving stands; these may cost more but are far easier to port around. Trade show presentations often use smaller boards, as they are given a table or cubicle to present their particular information; so many product specialists prefer the standalone or even hand held white presentation boards to attach their product against a simple background. Colorized boards or black presentation boards can be just as effective, as the attract the eye more than a standard white backdrop will and may generate more traffic in a particular booth or stand.

Some of the most popular models of presentation boards for standard show and tell projects are a combination of dry erase white boards and Velcro attachment boards. Velcro is one of the leading producers of white board presentation functions, and their lineups can be found at practically any boardroom or school due to their utility and low cost. Dry erase white boards allow for customers to write or draw in any number of colored markers and erase without leaving streaks or smudging, or getting ink on hands and clothes. White boards also allow for potential customers or associates to draw on the canvas themselves during a presentation if need be. Dual sided easels give twice as much writing space, so that the presentation can simply be flipped around if additional notes need to be taken or points be made.

Magnetic boards use the power of attraction to hold up papers or data from adjustable clips around the board. Magnetic functions are popular for architectural presentation boards and interior design presentation boards, as they allow for blueprints, construction data, government permits, and personal information to be easily taken up and put down. Many schools find that magnetic clips are a way for their students to update class lists, schedules, and homework without the mess and expense of chalk or markers.

Fashion presentation boards, along with higher end business presentations, must be more intricate in design so that they will attract attention and create a sense of knowledge. Plenty of models will certainly suffice for fashion shows, but the majority are more expensive for their aesthetic appeal. Presentation boards with genuine oak lining, for example, give an earthy and warm feel to a customer’s delivery, yet can cost upwards of five hundred dollars. Some companies even develop models with marble or obsidian linings, which in addition to being extremely fragile, cost several thousand dollars. These upper echelon easels can be set at any height or capability, so that they can be projected upon if desired or can be used in tandem with magnetic clips or dry erase markers. If you need to make a drastic point, then consider the utility of a more expensive model. However, if budget is a primary concern, there are plenty of products that are easy on the wallet.

Of course, many easels are used for simple shows, such as a science presentation board for a fair or competition. These boards may cost as little as fifty dollars for a simple whiteboard with aluminum siding. These models offer enough space to diagram a formula, process, or hypothesis without sacrificing utility and mobility. Science enthusiasts can make note of the magnetic function if they are showing off a project with magnetism or heavy metals, or can use the colored markers if optic presentations are the reason for diagrams. The capability of colorization allows easier retention, as memory is easily linked to colors.

If you are interested in a presentation board for a trade show or simply as a means of displaying the result of a project, consider budget options and check availability at nearby office stores.
