If your company often attends trade shows or trade fairs, you will have already realized the importance of having a very eye catching portable trade show display. In order to catch the eye of potential customers you have very little time as they walk by your booth. Thus the more appealing your display, the better the chance that people will stop by your booth and learn more about your company.

There is no question about it, it can be very time consuming to set up trade show booth and that is quite frustrating especially if the trade fair only lasts a couple of days. If you do attend many trade shows, one thing you may want to look into purchasing is a portable trade show display. These are great, as they are usually very lightweight, easy to transport and easy to snap into place.

You can buy floor standing portable trade show displays, or tabletop portable pop up trade show displays. If you are planning to buy one of the larger floor stands, a few things may be helpful for you to know and plan for, before making your purchase.

Floor Standing Displays
Easy to Setup: Some floor standing displays can be quite unwieldy, and difficult for one person to put up. Those type remind me a little of the small plastic children’s tents that were meant to be pop-up but never quite were. Look for a display that is easy to set up, and that can be put up or taken down by one person. Make sure the instructions for setting it up are clear and easy to understand. It may be a good idea to practice setting it up before you get to the trade show also.

Sturdy: You should also make sure that they are not so lightweight that they will tip over easily. If you have a popular booth you will have many people passing through it, and brushing by the display and you want to make sure that it will not be knocked over. Similarly, it should not be that sturdy that it is heavy and unwieldy.

Ease of Transportation: Make sure that your new display will fold down compactly so that it is easy to transport. While you may have a truck to transport samples of your goods to the trade show, more often than not an initial team is sent in a car or van to set up the booth. Bulky posters and displays are not ideal for these situations.

Table Top Displays
Most companies find it is helpful to have additional smaller tabletop displays scattered around their booth on shelves, or on counters. The small trade show portable display pops up advertisements are great for displaying individual products. It is very easy to have a specific product printed onto these displays, which can sit on a shelf or a bench directly behind the actual products that are being advertised.

There are different styles of tabletop displays. You can have the thinner display that stands on its own in a half-circle. Then you have the box like portable pop up displays that sit squarely on the tabletop. These are the two most common displays. Aside from these, you can also have custom designed displays made, using cardboard or plastic sheeting, that can even include samples of the actual products designed in miniature that pop up off the display, giving it a three dimensional look.

Pricing
It is not always cheap to make displays for trade shows, or any other event. If you are a small company, you may incur even more costs as you may have to outsource the designing as well as the production of your displays. Fortunately, there are many companies that allow you to provide your own graphics and have them printed on their displays, which can be ordered online and shipped to either your company or to the actual trade-show location once, they are finalized.

One thing that some companies have found helpful is to buy the pop up displays that are one color, and that allow you to attach your own posters and graphics via double-sided tape, or Velcro. These are great, as you can re-use them repeatedly even if your product line changes.

Alternatively, you can also search online for used portable trade show displays, which also will be considerably cheaper than buying a new display. If you are interested in buying second hand, displays a great time to do this is at the end of a trade show when the booths are being packed up. Usually at the end of a trade show, especially if it is an international trade shop, booth owners are eager to get rid of anything that can, to avoid having to pay costly shipping fees. It is very easy, at this time, to negotiate buying a second hand display.
