The Banner Stands Family

Posted by on Sunday, 14 February, 2010

This article will be about every type of Banner Stands humankind can think of, and there are many. It is not that the designers of this product are trying to be amusing or get one over on the public, but there is use for every type of these banner stands that will be described. Every type of event, all the parties, stores and malls all use banner stands, that is why there are so many of them. Moreover, since they are so adept at spreading a message, their use is running strong. The type of banner stand will be in italics and there will be a description of each one.  I am sure there is one that you could use.

Outdoor Banner Stands come in all types of shapes and sizes. They are made to fight off the weather and hold their own in every type of Mother Nature’s calamity. Banner stands that are made to be outside must be weighted down. Or they will blow over if any type of unsuspecting gust comes along which could hurt someone standing near it or damage the banner. There are two ways to hold down a banner stand, sand or water. Both have their positives and negatives. Outdoor stands come with some parts that bolster the frame and base in case the day is a little windy. Some of these will rotate with the wind, why fight Mother Nature when you can just work with her? Other outdoor banners can be stuck into the giving ground that are deemed flying banners. Outdoor stands are used frequently at food establishments beaming that juicy cheeseburger to all customers.

Retractable Banner Stands are superb when the times are short. In other words, when something needs to happen quickly, this is the time for the retractable banner stand. So, when an outdoor show is about to commence, perhaps one after another, these retractable banner stands can be put into play. These can also be dubbed roll up banner stands since they are rolled up in the base’s interior and then quite easily pulled up so it is taught and mounted to the pole. These poles are often adjustable or can be separated into smaller units and connected with a bendable lace. These can also be referred to as portable banner stands. These banner stands would work perfect at a trade show since trade shows are often fleeting, one-day events.

There are banner stands that turn themselves around. They are called Motorized or Scrolling Banner Stands. These types of stands rotate in a constant circle. The transfer and action appeals to the eyes since human eyes are conditioned to observe or notice movement. Advertisers like this for this reason; they get people to look at them. There is not much point in putting up an advertisement if no one is going to look at it. These scrolling stands do require a power source but can come in either wall mounted types or ones that can stand under their own power. These are great in movie theaters since they can show off a new hit release every weekend. These banner display stands pay for themselves.

Sometimes someone wants to display a simple poster. Some posters are spectacular so there are banner stands designed for this. They are called Poster and Sign Stands. There are so many of these, the most difficult part is choosing which one’s your business or event wants to use. These are idea for spreading some critical information.

You would think by now that there is not any normal banner stand, that every banner stand was special, sort of like a human. However, that is not quite the case. Standard Banner Stands may look regular but they have different scopes as well. A carbon compound pole with a steel bottom to bolster the banner’s weight is what this banner consists of. X Banners force the power to the corners of the banner to ensure the banner is flat so anyone walking by can see the entire face of the banner’s message and/or picture. These sorts of banners have been around since the 1960’s.

OK, we mentioned these before briefly, these are Telescopic Banner Stands and their preference is provided the buyer with options. These stands can change sizes so they can host different sizes of banners. That is really something. These telescopics allow strong poles to holding up the banner with pole gloves that the pole fits into.

Banner stand makers are salespeople first. They may not believe what Al Gore flies around the world talking about but they are trying to profit off of it. Green Banner Stands come with recyclable parts. They are mostly made of the same ingredients that a can of soda is: aluminum. There are also banner stands that are totally green.

Banner Stands of all makes and models are specifically designed for certain purposes. They are all intended to do one thing though, display someone’s message, and attract attention.

Retractable Banner Stands Perfect for Trade Shows

Posted by on Sunday, 14 February, 2010

Retractable banners stands are ideal stands for trade fairs, marketing, branding and for use in airports, lounges, malls, or anywhere that information needs to be displayed. A retractable banner stand is also known as a roll-up banner stand.  Most of the retractable banners roll up from the base of the stand and are attached to a wire or piece of metal that is anchored at the base of the stand.

The ease of use has made them a very popular type of banner stand. They are simple to put together and set up, and just as easy to take down. They also usually come with carry cases, which makes them very easy to travel with.  Most of the stands make switching the banner a very simple procedure. Some even have cartridges that insert into the base of the stand with the banner rolled up inside. You can purchase different cartridges and thus be able to switch the banners on the stands very easily, simply by switching the cartridge.

Most retractable banner displays are considered portable, even though they sometimes are a little weightier than other displays, such as the pole or tension banner stands. Still, the additional weight is negligible, and in most cases does not make them any less portable. Of course, in very large sized retractable banner this additional weight can mean the difference between portability and becoming non-portable. Outdoor retractable banners are also often quite a bit heavier than the ones used indoors, however this is intentional and is to prevent them from being blown over.

They are also well liked because, unlike some other types of banner stands, the banner is protected during transportation as it is actually rolled up and kept inside the base of the stand.  With some other different types of stands, you cannot store the banner along with the stand, and as a result, the banner itself can either get damaged or be misplaced.

They are usually a little more expensive than a similar sized pole banner, mainly due to their winding or roll-up mechanism. Most other banners have a much simpler internal construction.

When it comes to ease of use, they win hands down over most other banner stands. This is why they are an extremely popular choice in certain environments and situations, such as trade shows.  Trade shows are generally very busy places, and demanding time-wise. Therefore, anything that makes more time available, even if it is a small amount of time saved on the setting up and closing down, is definitely worthwhile.  Most retractable banner stands can be put up and taken down in a matter of minutes, especially if you are familiar with how they operate and are assembled.

Many of these types of stands are sold along with custom banners.  Banners are usually made from top quality vinyl, which means that the actual banner itself should be very long-lasting, and resistant to tearing or fading, particularly if they receive good care. You can also purchase the retractable banner display with a single, plain colored cloth banner.  These are great for making up your own specific banners, as you can attach graphic or advertisement or notice that you need to with Velcro. These work well in situations where you have to continually change different notices or advertisements, as it is generally cheaper to do this than to buy many different cartridges and banners.

Typically a banner stand will cost anywhere from $150 to over $300. You can often get very good discounts form online retailers if you order bulk retractable banner signs at one time, with the price break usually kicking in with an order of ten or more stands.  Prices also vary depending on the type of material that the banner itself is made from.

Vinyl is often used for the actual banner, and while most banners made from vinyl are fine they will sometimes curl around the edges, particularly the more use a particular banner gets. The same is true of laminated banners also.  Therefore some retailers are selling banners made from fabric (polyester) instead of vinyl, or are using a combination polyester-vinyl blend and these are much more resilient and do not have the same problems with curling along the edges.

There are also different options to consider when purchasing this type of stand.  One thing that many people find useful is a stand light that clips onto the pole. These are great for attracting more people to look at your banner, and for highlighting certain sections of the banner. Another accessory you may want to consider if you are purchasing a stand with banner, and you are expecting to travel a lot, is a sturdy trade show case to carry the stand in. It will do a much better job of protecting the stand, than the sometimes flimsy case that is sold with the stand.

Portable Banner Stands Guide

Posted by on Sunday, 14 February, 2010

There are several different types of portable banner stands, though they all perform the same function–they all display banners.  Banner stands are some of the cheaper display stands you can buy. They are definitely very functional, but they do not offer as great protection for your promotional material as some other displays do. Still, they really do play a very important role in branding your company and advertising. Most are so small that you can virtually put them anywhere.

Retractable Banner Stands: These are also known as roller or roll up banner stands. They are very lightweight and extremely portable, with most coming with their own carry case and shoulder strap. They are perfect for taking with you to trade fairs, or for setting out the front of your shop or business to advertise a sale or special service. These types of stands are made specifically to stand on the floor, balanced on their base. Some accomplish this by having a wide and slightly heavy base, from which the banner rolls out of. Others have a small ‘foot’ on their base that twists around and out to give support. Some retractable banner stands are made for double sided advertising, while other are made for single sided advertising.

It is also possible to find a banner stand with fabric attached. You can add your own posters to this stand by using Velcro to attach them.
You can also find these stands that have the actual graphics or banner inserted into a cartridge, which is attached to the stand. If you want to change your graphic, or your advertising appeal, you simply switch to the cartridge that has the new style banner inside.

These are some of the simplest types of portable banner stands to use, as the banner simple rolls up or down.

Tensioned Banner Stands: These lightweight and easy to use stands are also inexpensive. They often have a steel base, which affords them better stability. They can use curved poles for different designs, to give the actual banner a different appearance and are often used in higher end advertising.

Pole Banner Stands: This portable banner stand is less automated than the retractable banner stand, although it is stabilized in a similar fashion. Of all of the different types of portable stands, these are usually the cheapest and the most lightweight and portable. Rather than storing the banner with the stand, you have to actually un-clip or otherwise undo the banner from the stand and roll it up separately to store it.  They are very simple to put together, and usually come with a few parts that can be assembled without needing any screws or tools of any kind.

Counter-top Banner Stands:  These are not really a specific type of stand per se, as much as a smaller, more compact version of either the pole or the retractable banner stands. They are designed to place small banners on desks or counter tops, and often come in adjustable sizes.

Counter-top stands are often used for smaller advertisements, or to give specific information about a product. They do not really grab the eye of passersby, as that is not what they were designed for. They are more to be used with informational banners.

When looking for a portable stands there are several things to keep in mind. One is that they really should be portable, not heavy or bulky to carry. If you are traveling with a portable stand you can often carry it on to the plane with you, as they simply swing over your shoulder.

Another thing to keep in mind is how easy the portable stand is to assemble. Most of the stands mentioned here are relatively easy to assemble, although the tensioned banner stands can be a little more complex, especially if you are aiming for a specific look or design with them.  Ideally, you should be able to assemble these stands without needing to use any special tools, so look for ones that snap together or that are simply joined by inserting poles into drilled holes.

Many times, you can also have your graphic printed by the same companies that sell banner stands. This is especially helpful, for example, when buying the retractable banner stands that come with a cartridge. You can simply have the company print up several different banners at the same time, and then supply you with the stand, the removable cartridges with the different banners, and the carry case.

Keep in mind too that several of these banner stands, particularly the pole banner stands, are often offered in bulk at a much reduced price. If you are buying banners to display in a showroom, you may find that it is convenient and a real money saver to buy these stands in bulk.
